David Siemer, Managing Director
Siemer & Associates, Los Angeles

Mr. Siemer founded Siemer & Associates, LLC in 2007 to fulfill his vision of a true boutique merchant bank that works with technology, software and digital media companies throughout their complete life cycle. In addition to investment banking, he concurrently founded Siemer Ventures to assist early growth technology companies to achieve their full potential. One of the most active investment firms in Southern California, Siemer Ventures claims more than 40 current portfolio companies and makes about 12 new investments per year.
He was previously with Montgomery & Co. where he served as a key member of the Digital Media Investment Banking Group. In this capacity he led sales to major media companies such as News Corp, Google, Sony, Yahoo!, Hearst, Viacom, WPP and Disney, and he managed equity private placements from multiple venture capital firms and hedge funds.
Mr. Siemer began his career in 1995 at Desco Capital Partners, a Chicago based Internet and software venture fund. Here he managed investments into companies such as: Total Control Products (sold to GE), Conquest Communications (Sold to AT&T), StorageApps (Sold to HP) and Enact Software (sold to Sage SalesLogix).
Mr. Siemer received his M.B.A. in Finance and Economics from the University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business, with high honors. He completed his undergraduate work at Lehigh University with degrees in Management Information Systems and Accounting. He is a General Securities Principal licensed with FINRA/SIPC (formerly NASD).
Ivan Nikkhoo, Managing Director
Siemer & Associates, Los Angeles

Mr. Nikkhoo is responsible for all facets of the practice including business development, deal sourcing, origination, conversion and executing client mandates. He is also an advisor to S&A’s venture capital arm, Siemer Ventures.
He brings to S&A over 27 years of industry experience in various senior capacities both nationally and internationally. Prior to joining the firm, Ivan was the Head of the Technology Practice at Barrington Associates, a division of Wells Fargo Securities, focusing on advising emerging technology companies. Before that, he served as the Managing Director and Portfolio Manager for N3 Technology Fund, a long/short hedge fund co-managed with Dalton Investments. He has also served as the General Manager & Executive VP at SOA Software, responsible for mergers, acquisitions, investments, strategic alliances and joint ventures, as well as President of Vertex Systems, where he was focused on technology strategy, implementation and IP monetization. In addition, he has served as Director of European Operations for TLD Systems in Paris, France, providing software for European space and military projects.
Mr. Nikkhoo is a Wexner Heritage Program Fellow, is a member of Young Presidents’ Organization and is very active in the tech community. He was a finalist for the E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year Award and serves on the boards of a number of charity and business organizations including the Los Angeles Venture Association (LAVA), LA Chamber of Commerce, USC Marshall Partners, Junior Achievement of Southern California and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He is a frequent guest lecturer at the USC Marshall School of Business and has been featured in numerous publications including Fortune Magazine, the Los Angeles Times and the Los Angeles Business Journal. Additionally, Mr. Nikkhoo is a partner at a venture fund focused on investing in emerging technology companies and serves on the boards of several technology companies.
He received his M.B.A. from the University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business, and his B.S. in Engineering from McGill University in Montreal. He is a General Securities Principal licensed with FINRA/SIPC (formerly NASD).
Dan Chen, Managing Director
Siemer & Associates, Los Angeles

Dan Chen brings to Siemer & Associates over 13 years of investment banking, private equity and corporate development experience and completed transactions totaling over $5 billion in value. Most recently, Mr. Chen was Managing Director of Corporate Development at a Los Angeles-based holding company where he evaluated and executed on a wide variety of new investment and partnership opportunities in multiple industries, including healthcare IT & services and the energy sector.
Prior to that, Mr. Chen was Vice President in the media practice at Montgomery & Co., where he provided M&A and capital raising advisory services to companies in the software, digital media and Internet services space. Key transactions completed include Disney’s $700 million acquisition of Club Penguin, HBK Investments’ $165 million LBO of CoCreate Holding GmbH (now part of Parametric Technology Corp.), and late stage financings for companies such as Vantage Media and WildTangent.
Before joining Montgomery & Co., Mr. Chen was an Investment Associate at TPG Capital. At TPG, he handled all aspects of deal sourcing and transaction execution for TPG’s cross-border private equity and venture investments in the U.S. and Asia. He participated in the investment activities of Newbridge Asia III, LP ($724 million) and Newbridge Asia II, LP ($392 million), and he monitored several portfolio companies in the Internet services space within those funds.
Mr. Chen began his career as an analyst in the M&A group at Merrill Lynch & Co. in New York and San Francisco. Key transactions completed were in the Internet and technology space and included Infospace’s $1 billion acquisition of Go2Net (now part of Blucora, Inc.), Checkfree’s $1 billion acquisition of TransPoint, Solectron’s $2.4 billion acquisition of NatSteel Electronics, and Xilinx’s $300 million acquisition of RocketChips.
Mr. Chen graduated from Yale University with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He is a registered General Securities Representative (Series 63 and 79 licenses) with FINRA/SIPC (formerly NASD).
Marshall Jensen, Managing Director
Siemer & Associates, San Francisco

Mr. Jensen is S&A’s senior representative in the San Francisco Bay Area, working in partnership with the rest of S&A’s professionals across business development activities and the execution of client mandates. Concurrent with his role at S&A, Mr. Jensen runs a consulting and advisory practice, DMW Hexagon, selectively serving early-stage emerging-growth clients. Mr. Jensen also serves on the Advisory Board and Management team of Digital Media Wire. Lastly, he serves as an Advisor to S&A’s venture capital arm, Siemer Ventures.
Mr. Jensen has 15 years experience working in emerging growth investment banking, with a substantial focus on supporting TMT and Digital Media clients. He has held senior positions with firms including Adams Harkness (now Canaccord Genuity), CIBC, Montgomery & Co. and UBS. In addition to his investment banking experience, Mr. Jensen spent three plus years (2005-2008) at a private equity and hedge fund investment vehicle, Fort Mason Capital, where he served as a Managing Director and oversaw the origination and structuring of over 30 TMT and Digital Media related investments. Lastly, Mr. Jensen briefly practiced corporate law as an associate attorney with Shearman & Sterling, supporting companies such as Apple, Viacom and Silicon Graphics across a range of M&A and financing transactions.
Mr Jensen received a juris doctorate from Columbia University and has previously been admitted to the California and New York bars. He also graduated from Brown University with a dual major in economics and political science. He is a registered General Securities Representative (Series 7, 63 and 79 licenses) with FINRA/SIPC (formerly NASD).
Ned Sherman, Senior Advisor
Siemer & Associates, Los Angeles

Mr. Sherman is a Senior Advisor to Siemer & Associates and S&A’s venture capital arm, Siemer Ventures, working in partnership with S&A’s professionals across business development activities and the execution of client mandates. Concurrent with his role at S&A, Mr. Sherman runs a consulting and advisory practice, DMW Hexagon, selectively serving early-stage emerging-growth clients, and is CEO and Publisher of Digital Media Wire.
Ned has been deeply immersed in the Digital Media Ecosystem for nearly two decades. Prior to founding Digital Media Wire and his independent legal and advisory practices, Ned was a founding member of the iLaw Group in the Entertainment Department at Loeb & Loeb LLP in Los Angeles, where he handled licensing and corporate transactions and financings for media and entertainment clients including Universal Studios and MGM and launched dozens of Internet and new media start-ups. Before that, he was an associate in the corporate/finance department at Mayer Brown & Platt and was also a foreign lawyer at Nishimura & Partners in Tokyo, Japan, where his practice involved international mergers and acquisitions and the formation of technology and entertainment joint venture companies.
A sought after speaker at industry events, Mr. Sherman has been quoted or profiled in publications including The Wall Street Journal, American Lawyer, LA Times, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, and Billboard and interviewed and featured on C-SPAN and National Public Radio (NPR). Ned is a board member of The Technology Council of Southern California and The NAB Show Program Advisory Council. He is also founder and creator of the Billboard Digital Entertainment Awards, which he sold to VNU/Nielsen in 2006.
Mr Sherman received a Juris Doctorate from The University of Texas School of Law and is a member of the California and Texas bar associations. Todd Hellmann, Managing Director
Siemer & Associates, Denver

Mr. Hellmann is the senior representative of Siemer Associates in Denver and covers the Rocky Mountain Region working in close partnership with the rest of S&A’s professionals across new business development and the execution of client transactions. Concurrent with his role at S&A, Mr. Hellmann also serves as a Managing Director at DMW Hexagon, a consulting and advisory practice selectively serving early-stage Digital Media companies, and Hexagon Advisors, which is focused on early-stage consumer companies.
Mr. Hellmann has been active in the investment banking and advisory businesses for more than twenty years. Over the course of his career, Mr. Hellmann has had a substantial focus on the TMT (Technology, Media and Telecom) and has supported dozens of companies within communications technology, software and other Digital Media relevant sectors. Mr. Hellmann also has experience working with traditional entertainment sector clients such as professional sports franchises and gaming operators. Mr. Hellmann has completed more than one hundred M&A and capital raising transactions totaling more than $19 billion in transaction value. Prior to founding Hexagon Advisors in 2007, Todd was a founding partner of the Metcalf Group and held senior investment banking positions with several major and bulge bracket financial institutions in San Francisco and New York. On the West Coast Mr. Hellmann worked as an Executive Director within the Technology M&A Group at UBS Warburg and as a Principal in the Technology M&A Group of JP Morgan Chase (and Hambrecht & Quist prior to its acquisition by JP Morgan). Todd also worked in the Investment Banking Group of CIBC Oppenheimer in New York.

Jennifer Wilde Anderson, Vice President, Business Development
Siemer & Associates, Los Angeles

Ms. Anderson is an integral member of the business development team at Siemer partnering with leadership to develop and implement growth strategies and manage key firm relationships. She oversees the firm’s marketing strategy and team, events and public relations.
Prior to her work with Siemer, Ms. Anderson worked in Business Affairs & Entitlements with Casden Properties, building key political and community relationships, serving as a liaison to outside counsel and shepherding projects through the entitlement process. Ms. Anderson gained extensive management, marketing, research and event production experience as the Deputy Campaign Manager for Governor Jerry Brown’s 2006 campaign for California Attorney General as well as in her role as the Assistant Midwest Regional Press Secretary for Senator John Kerry’s 2004 presidential bid. Ms. Anderson honed her leadership, event production and sales skills as the Founder and Chair of The Ivy Plus Society, a social and professional networking organization which she sold after its expansion to eight major urban markets.
Ms. Anderson is a graduate of Yale University and the University of Chicago Law School. She is a member of the California State Bar and serves on the Board of Advisers for EventUp.
Vanessa VanderZanden, Marketing Manager
Siemer & Associates, Los Angeles

Ms. VanderZanden steers the marketing strategy for Siemer & Associates. She refines all marketing materials, garners media attention and builds the firm’s reputation as an instrumental player in the technology investment banking community.
Previously, Ms. VanderZanden marketed an international litigation and business law firm, a natural beverage company, and several local non-profit agencies through pro bono work with The Taproot Foundation. As a former business journalist, she served as a reporter and editor for a number of trade publications covering the financial, toy, entertainment and trade show and conference industries.
She holds an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University, Graziadio School of Business and Management, and a B.A. in English from the University of California at Los Angeles.
Lauren Lindquist, Office Manager/Executive Administrator
Siemer & Associates, Los Angeles

Mrs. Lindquist has been a part of the Siemer & Associates team since June of 2010. Along with managing the office, she heads S&A’s human resources department, assists senior management with compliance and coordinates all firm events. She was previously a director’s assistant and office manager with Nydrle Productions in West Hollywood.
Mrs. Lindquist obtained a B.S. in Marketing with a concentration in Advertising from Ferris State University. She minored in E-Commerce and obtained certificates in Direct Marketing and Business-to-Business Marketing.
